Idea Generation
Ideas for the Project
- Rock night needs to change to Sound night - If they want to get away from the 'rock/grunge' image of the YMCA they need to not advertise a spacific rock night.
- Do an advert for the Y in general not aim it at a spacific night/area.
- Make the Y into a character - fun and informative
- Advert for the YMCA followed by a short look at what they doo each night
- Put together a whole marketing campain - posters and leaflets - need to follow up animation
- Needs to be a generic advert to target 11 to 18 year olds
- Need to get away from the religous side - this will put youngsters off
Advert Ideas
- Animate all four letters of the YMCA
- Use the layout of the building and show different activities in each room, moving from room to room to see each.

Visit to YMCA
After having gone to see the YMCA today we learned a lot about what the want/need from us. They have a variety of different goups going on every night within the YMCA and out in the communityof the week as well as during the day.
*Will upload leaflet later*
Also during the day they do a creche during the day as well as a Breakfast Club, After School Club, and an Entry to Employment course to help young people who have left school get into work or collage.
The only promoting they have in place at the moment is word of mouth from people who already go, Myspace and Facebook, and going round to primary schools and talking and doing activities with the students, and sending out letters to the parents.
Logo
This is the currently logo that they are using. It isnt very exciting, and has no attracton to younger people, it isn't memorable and it needs to be more lively.
Target Audience
The age group they are aiming for is 11 to 18, depending on which night/group the target group changes slightly. However for the most part the taget is between these ages. They are finding that the main age group is between 11 and 13 they don't seem to be having many people over this age attending the groups.
They are also finding that people are looking at it as a spacific group of people 'place'. As the main event on a friday night used to be a rock night, many youngsters think that this is the only 'type' of people the YMCA is targeted at.
Our Thoughts
- Needs to show that a wide range of different people are welcome, different nights are aimed at different groups of people.
- Leaflets need to be better
- Friday night needed the most advertising to show that they are now doing drum and bass nights and hip hop nights as well as the rock/metal nights.
- Need to try and aim services at the older half of the target audience more.

Questions for YMCA
Just if anyone has any other ideas for questions to ask when we visit the YMCA on monday
So far I have thought of:
Is there any limitations to what we can do?
Does the advertisment have to be done in a certain way?
Example does it have to be serious or can we add humour?
Is there anything we have to include?
Is there anything we can't include?
Target market?
Which topic is the highest priority?
How long does the animation need to be?
